God has led His people out of Egypt and across the desert. Now they’re about to enter the Promised Land, and God (indicated by the light at the top of the painting) passes down three messages to the people through Moses.

First, Moses reviews the history of God’s previous care for the people of Israel, reminding them of what He has done. Because of that, we should have hope and follow Him. Secondly, Moses goes over the 10 commandments and the other laws given, showing them that God expects us to listen to and to obey Him. Thirdly, Moses calls the Israelites to honor the contract they had previously made with God, to remember who He is and to love Him completely.
